The FIRS World Inline Cup (WIC) is the official roller marathon events of the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) and the Comite International de Course (CIC) where more than 30 international teams compete during the season in venues around the world promoting speed roller skating as a young and innovative sport.
Under the control of the European Confederation of Roller Sports (CERS) marathon events started at the end of the 90' decade with six stages in the main cities of the continent. In 2001, the FIRS took control of the event worldwide which was renamed to World Inline Cup crossing borders and arriving in new regions where inline skating had an incredible boom.
In 2003, the expert Swiss company, Iguana Marketing, obtained t the organizing rights worldwide giving a big push for our discipline and applying innovating concepts of sports management. Big international companies began to support our sport all over the world and main media press began to focus on inline skating thanks to the WIC.
The Marathon events does not only focused on elite races, but incorporates many fitness and recreational activities for all the roller sports fans. More than 12,000 skaters participate in Berlin each season, more than 30,000 are doing in the swiss races and another 10,000 skaters in Korean each race.
Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Eindhoven, Duluth, Zurich, Saint Moritz, Rome, Naples, Pamplona, Taipei, Seoul, Incheon, Wolvega, Munich, Mainz, Suzhou, Cartagena, Rennes, Dijon and Margarita are only some cities that already hosted the FIRS World Inline Cup.
