The CIC Vice-President
Carmelo Paniagua will attend to the 2009 World Roller
Speed Skating Championships in Ostend City, Belgium.
Ostend it’s a
very popular and famous city for the sport of speed
skating and has hosted the CIC World Roller Speed Skating
Championships on many occasions.
The Vice-President,
Mr.Paniagua, will be met by Jan Piotrowsky, President
of the Belgian Roller Sports Federation (FBRS), and
will be there to observe the road and marathon competitions
in Ostend.
The 2009 European Championships
has set new historical records with more than 400 athletes
from 24 countries attending including first time competitors
from Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia, Herzegovina and Slovakia
taking part.

it’s a big step for our Olympic Campaign as the
IOC President Jacques Rogge is from Belgium.
“Everyone in Zandvoorde
has been working hard to prepare for this high-level
event, whether as organizers, athletes or supporters,
so I hope that these will be excellent European Championships
worthy of the sport of roller speed skating.
At the same time, I
hope that these Championships will bring everyone from
the different countries taking part closer together
in a spirit of sporting fellowship” Rogge said
on his Welcome Letter sent to the Organizing Committee
of Ostend 2009.
