The World Games 2009 have
finished after three days of stimulating competitions
that exhibited the potential that our sport can offer.
Speed roller skating events were broadcast live through
ESPN which is an excellent result for speed roller skating
in Kaohsuing.
Speed roller skating
is a candidate for inclusion in the Olympic Games of
2016 and received much support from top level international
sports authorities that were in Chinese Taipei to inspect
the different candidates. Of the seven sport contenders
five were part of the official program of the 2009 World
Games.
During the competitiion
the vice President of the International Olympic Committee
(IOC), Mr. Chiharu Igaya, viewed the speed competition
together with CIC President, Roberto Marotta and CIC
Members Susan Currell and Kim Sang-Hu.
The Vice President of
the International World Games Association (IWGA) Mr.
Max Bishop and the President of the General Association
of International Sports Federations (GAISF) Mr. Hein
Verbruggen also attended the speed competitions at the
Yangming venue.
Mr. Ron Froehlich, President
of IWGA will be attending the events at the speed venue
today.
